CAN the Bird 5K

Bring a CANned food item and join us for the 3rd annual CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot, on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, beginning at 8am.  The race will begin and end in the Walmart parking lot, 5885 Kingstowne Boulevard, Alexandria, VA 22315.

All ages can enjoy a run, walk or stroll around Kingstowne and its scenic lake.

Registrants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and swag/deals from our sponsors.

Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted by Koinonia.

 

2023 CTB5K Race Information

Online registration will close Monday, November 20 at 8:00 pm. Late registration will still be available during packet pick up.

Registrants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and swag/deals from our sponsors. 

Awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall male and female finishers, top 3 male and female finishers in 12 & Under and 13-18 age groups. Plus fastest runner with dog and fastest runner with stroller will receive an award.

2023 CTB5K Volunteer Opportunities

As with any community event, CTB5K’s success relies on volunteer support. If you want to begin Thanksgiving by giving back to a community that provides so much (and you don’t want to run or walk), please join us at the START/FINISH LINE on November 24th to assist with registration, packet pickup, CANned food drive collection, water stop support, course navigator, and/or participant cheerleader.  We need you and appreciate your help!

2023 CTB5K CANned FOOD DRIVE BENEFICIARY

Koinonia Foundation will be the recipient of our 2023 CANned food drive.

Please Note:  While all donations are gratefully accepted, Koinonia is working to provide healthy food for our clients, so we would appreciate your help in considering the following when you make your donation:

  • Please try to limit foods that are high in fat and sugar.
  • Consider making half your donation in fruits and vegetables (canned)
  • ​Look for low or reduced sodium.
